Show Student Health Center STUDENT HEALTH CENTER The Health Service of Weber State College has been established for the education and protection of students. In the event a student is injured or becomes suddenly ill while on campus, the Office of Campus Police should be called, phone 393-0973. The student will then be transported to his doctor, the Student Health Center, or the hospital, for care. After office hours, the student should call his private physician, or Campus Police for transportation to the hospital. The Student Health Center is located in Annex IV, just north of the Office of Campus Police. The center is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. The health staff consists of a part-time physician, who is also a consultant to the counseling staff, and a registered nurse. Treatment and consultation may be arranged for by appointment. Medical care at the Student Health Center is paid from student health service fees. Any further medical care beyond that provided at the Health Center must be paid for by the student or his/her insurance plan. A health and accident policy for students is available only at time of registration at a special rate. This insurance plan is especially designed for students at Weber State College for protection against medical expenses for injury and illness. Unless the student is protected by some other form of insurance, it is strongly urged that he/she take advantage of the low cost insurance plan. Students are encouraged to consult the Health Service on any problem they may have concerning their health. STUDENT HOUSING SERVICE On the Weber State College campus there are four residence halls available to students. Living in the residence halls provides an excellent opportunity for students to live, work, and study together. This becomes a vital part of the college experience. Each hall is under the supervision of a head resident couple who are well qualified and trained to work with students. The head residents are assisted by a resident assistant on each floor. Resident assistants are usually junior and senior students. A student government organization provides for a well balanced educational, cultural, and social program in each hall. Room assignments are made for a full quarter. For housing information, brochures, and applications, write the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408. Student Housing Policy Any regularly enrolled full-time Weber State College student may apply for permission to live in the residence halls. When applications for admission to residence halls exceed the available facilities, the Director of Housing shall decide which students will be admitted. Inasmuch as Weber State College is concerned about the welfare of students not living at home but living in off-campus facilities, the College may investigate such arrangements. Apartment Halls LaSal and Stansbury HallsApartment type residence halls for women students. Each hall has facilities for 72 students, accommodating six students per apartment. Facilities include combination living room-kitchen, bath, storage, and three two-student bedrooms. Each apartment is equipped with a refrigerator, range, table, chairs, drapes, study lamps, chest of drawers, closets, and beds. Telephones may be installed if desired, and the cost is shared by those living in the apartment. All utilities are provided by the college. Students provide their own cooking utensils, dishes, towels, bed linens, blankets, bedspreads, pillows, irons, ironing boards for use in the apartments, and all other personal effects. 42 Student Housing Board and Room Halls Wasatch HallA large two-wing hall designed for co-educational living. This hall presently accommodates 111 women students in one wing and 111 men students in the other wing. Promontory TowerThis twelve-story, high-rise, hall accommodates 36 students per floor. In both Wasatch Hall and Promontory Tower each room accommodates two students and is furnished with comfortable beds, window drapes, lamps, study desks, chairs, chests of drawers and closets. Students provide their own blankets, pillows, bed linens, bedspreads, towels, and other personal effects. Single rooms are also available. Students living in these two halls eat their meals in the Promontory Tower dining hall. Two meal plans are available: (1) seven-day meal plan, Sunday evening meal omitted and (2) five-day meal plan, including breakfast Monday through supper Friday. Other facilities in each building include living, laundry, recreation, study, TV, and music rooms and floor lounges. A Universal Gym and wrestling mats, a dark room, and a steam room are provided in Promontary Tower and are available to both men and women residents. Applications, Procedures, and Policies All students are invited to visit with or direct inquiries and requests for applications to the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408. Upon request, an application and housing information will be furnished. The application should then be completed and returned with a $25.00 deposit. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the Housing Occupancy Contract. Priority lists are based on date of receipt of application. Room assignments are normally made by the head residents prior to students arrival. Acceptance of application and deposit does not constitute admission to the college. Application for admission to the college is made at the Admissions Office, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408. Students living in College-operated residence halls agreed by written contract to retain their accommodations for the entire quarter. If a student desires to terminate from the residence halls, he may do so provided he receives official release from his housing contract or finds a student (other than one who has already applied for housing and is on the waiting list at the Housing Office) to take his place in the residence hall. CHARGES FOR COLLEGE FACILITIES ARE PAYABLE IN ADVANCE. IF PAYMENTS ARE PAST DUE, THE STUDENT WILL BE RESTRICTED FROM BOARD AND ROOM SERVICES. Students who are living in the LaSal and Stansbury apartments and desire a transfer to board and room accommodations have first preference for occurring vacancies over students not living in the residence halls. Some students have found that when they desire the LaSal or Stansbury apartments and vacancies are not immediately available, it is more practical for them to accept board and room accommodations and request placement in the apartments as soon as vacancies occur and are available to them. Residential Housing Listings of housing facilities in the community are available by a personal visit to the Housing Office. Summer Housing The College residence halls are available to Summer School students. Reservations may be made for the Summer Quarter by contacting the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah 84408.
