The Higher Education Services Program is designed to coordinate the development of course offerings being presented in the Ogden/Weber metropolitan area by all institutions of higher learning, as well as disseminate information about any courses or special programs brought into the area. The Weber Community Educational Services Center will be the primary location for such service. Youth Conservation Corps is a summer program designed to give high school age youth an opportunity of service to and employment in various government agencies for learning conservation practices. CONFERENCES AND SPECIAL PROGRAMS The Conferences and Special Interest Program offers assistance to the college and community in planning, promoting, and coordinating all activities incident to the successful operation of a workshop, conference, travel study tour, or other special program. The motto is "no program too small nor too difficult." Information on all campus conferences and workshops can be obtained. All persons desiring assistance with regards to facilities, banquets, advertising, parking, signing, mass mailings, and budgeting can make inquiries. Travel Study Programs may be offered anytime throughout the year. Programs may be arranged for college or community groups who wish to develop educationally while traveling within the state, the United States or in foreign countries. The purpose of the Travel Studies Program is to encourage and facilitate educational travel. The Travel Studies Program will coordinate with other departments on campus and welcome suggestions and requests from any individual or group interested in programs of a travel-study nature. Persons participating may enroll on a credit or audit basis in the class or classes offered in each program. Special Interest and Professional Growth Programs are designed for individuals who desire to be involved in educational activity, not necessarily for credit, but for the enjoyment and personal improvement. No tests or grades are given. The classes can be utilized for recreation, job upgrading, improving home and family skills, learning a new skill, or broadening knowledge. Many of the courses are taught by regular College faculty in an attempt to extend the offerings of the various departments of the College into the community on an informal learning basis for the personal satisfaction of educational interests. EXTENDED CAMPUS PROGRAMS Classes taught off the campus are designed to provide credit and non-credit educational opportunities to groups off the campus who wish to pursue a degree program or to improve their vocational and personal competency. Classes are held Monday through Saturday at times convenient for the requesting group. The College cooperates with the various governmental installations, businesses, and civic groups in planning and presenting specific courses to meet the needs of employees. 234 Continuing Education ORGANIZATIONAL DEVELOPMENT The Department of Organizational Development is designed to provide programs of in-service training and development of faculty and staff upon request. Another objective is to deliver effective programs to the community. A significant on-going program is the Title IV In-service Institute which is provided for by Title IV of the Civil Rights Act of 1964. This program is designed to provide cultural awareness experiences for public school personnel. OCCUPATIONAL CAREER CENTER Weber State College is designated as a comprehensive school having responsibility for post-high school vocational, occupational and career training programs development and operation. The Occupational Career Center focuses on identification of new programs and the needs of employers and trainers as well as an institutional preparation to meet ongoing training program needs. There are many occupational needs beyond the traditional vocational areas. In order to satisfy these needs, an Area Occupational Career Center has been established which identifies the occupational program needs of the community, develops the programs in viable, relevant entities and serves as an operational unit for short term programs. Those programs which show long range application are then transferred to one of the schools of the College. The Center serves as a focal point for new programs and established programs which have no developed regular college counterpart. It also serves as a center for occupational counseling for all students. The Center is dedicated to prepare persons for available occupations while also preparing them to grow into long term careers which provide satisfaction as well as income. The programs have open entry and are developed to promote exit directly into occupations or into post-high school educational programs. To facilitate the upward mobility of students, the Center provides counseling and job placement assistance. COURSES OF INSTRUCTION PV052. Automotive Fuel Systems (30/6 wks.)
