Show Business and Economics Office Administration courses leading to a teaching certificate as established by the Utah State Board of Education. This teaching major is recommended for prospective secondary school and junior college teachers. In the four-year Business Education program, a student must complete 183 credit hours including 57 credits from the general and specific education requirements. Math 102 may be substituted for Math 105. The following changes may be made in the School of Business core requirements for a total of 40 credits. Teaching Minor in Business EducationA teaching minor in Business Education is available in the area of Typewriting with Accounting, Business Machines, or Shorthand as the other area of emphasis with not less than 24 credit hours. Office Administration MajorIn Office Administration, students will have an opportunity to take all the courses needed to prepare them in the secretarial or administrative service fields. This program can lead to office positions such as executive secretary or administrative assistant. In the four-year Office Administration program, a student must complete 183 credit hours including 75 credits from the general and specific education requirements. Math 102 may be substituted for Math 105. Students majoring in any area of the School of Business and Economics are not required to have a minor. If, however, they do desire a minor, it will be added to their record if they complete a minimum of 15 credits from the following courses: OA 201, 202, 301, 341, 342, 353, 354, 355. Associate of Science in Secretarial ScienceIn the two-year Associate of Science program, a student must complete 93 credits including 50 credits from the general and specific education requirements.
