Show Continuing Education — Technology Continuing Education — Technology The School of Technology and Trade-Technical Education The School of Technology and Trade-Technical Education offers many general courses in the Departments of Automotive Engineering Technology, Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Technology and Institute of Trade-Technical Education and also in the Areas of Technical Education and Trade Education. Many courses listed in the day section of the catalog will be taught in the Division of Continuing Education. In addition, the following courses may be offered: Department of Pre-Engineering ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY Courses of Instruction Mechanical Drawing 1. Mechanical Drawing (Elementary)—Care and use of drawing instruments, practices in proper lettering, conventional lines and symbols, geometrical constructions and beginning orthographic projections. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). 2. Mechanical Drawing (Intermediate)—Advanced orthographic projections; primary and secondary auxiliary views; revolutions, intersections, and developments; isometric and oblique projection; sections and study of working drawing. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). 3. Mechanical Drawing (Advanced)—Point, line, plane, problems, length and slope of line, development and intersections of surfaces, shades and shadows. Prerequisite: Mechanical Drawing 2. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). Architectural Drawing 21. Blueprint Reading and Estimating (Elementary)—Figuring qualities of building materials, their cost, cost of handling, labor required for a four-room house. Individual instruction. (2). 22. Blueprint Reading and Estimating (Advanced)—Continuation of elementary estimating, including construction reports and comparison with estimates. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). 36. Architectural Design—Planning and designing small homes. Prerequisite: Architectural Drawing 21. (2). Building Drawing and Materials 051. Building, Drawing and Materials—Drawing symbols and detailed layouts related to building construction. Prerequisite: Intermediate mechanical drawing. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). 052. Advanced Building, Drawing and Materials—Continuation of building, drawing, and materials home planning, floor layouts, elevations, stairs, sections, and plot plans. Individual instruction. Two laboratory periods a week. (2). Institute of Trade-Technical Education AUTO BODY Courses of Instruction 071. Auto Body (General Shop)—A leisure-time activity. Principles and practices of roughing out metal, buffing, leading welding and the preparation of metal for refinishing. Fundamental principles and demonstrations in spray painting. A W S (3). 71. Auto Body and Refinishing—Roughing out metal, leading skrinking, welding, and metal finishing; care and use of the various types of spray painting equipment and the fundamental procedures in color matching and blending touch-up.
