Show Continuing Education — Technology Continuing Education — Technology laboratory periods providing the student with experience in lead wiping, soldering and application of the plumbing industry. 022. Advanced Plumbing—A continuation of Elementary Plumbing 021 to include the last two and one half years of the five year program. The course will provide more depth in mathematics, blueprint reading, rigging and advanced theory in all phases of plumbing. It also includes laboratory periods which advances the student towards passing the state examination to become a journeyman plumber. 031. Sheet Metal—Four-year course of related instruction to apprentices in the sheetmetal trade. It provides related instruction in mathematics, geometric drawing, pattern development, practical projection, tools, machinery, and materials. (3). 041. Painting—A study for apprentices designed to cover all areas of the painting trade. This course supplements the experience obtained on the job. Areas covered may include tools, materials, history of the trade, and supplies and techniques in preparation and application of finishes. (3). JOURNEYMAN RELATED TRAINING Courses of Instruction The following courses are offered to journeymen of the various trades who find it necessary to obtain information on various new developments in their respective fields. Additional classes may be offered as the need demands. 050. Electrical Cable Splicing—For journeymen electricians. Instruction given in the actual splicing of one-, two-, and three- conductor insulated, belted-lead cable; also the splicing of neoprene cable of all types and sizes. Included is instruction on the building and installation of stress cones and other technical information pertaining to high voltage conductors. (3). 051. Electricity (National Electric Code)—Rules governing the installation of electrical wire for light and power. Restricted to Journeymen Electricians. (3). 052. Industrial Electronics—Industrial applications of electronic circuits. (1). 060. Plumbing, Pipe Layout—A course designed to acquaint the apprentice and journeyman plumber with layout work in the plumbing trade. Sketching, project, and reading of blueprints. (3). 406 061. Plumbing, Pipe Welding—A course for men in the plumbing industry who wish to learn the techniques of pipe welding. Acetylene, arc and inert gas welding of pipe. (1-3). 062. Advanced Plumbing—Advanced theory of all phases of plumbing. (3). 070. General Blueprint Reading—Principles involved in the interpretation of trade drawings and blueprints. (3). 071. Blueprint Reading—Principles involved in sketching of trade industrial prints. (3). 072. Advanced Blueprint Reading—Principles involved in layout and drawing of trade industrial prints. (3). 091. Carpentry Welding—For journeymen carpenters. Instruction and practice given in the basic fundamentals of oxyacetylene and electric arc welding. Five laboratories. (3). 094. Carpentry—For journeymen carpenters. Instruction on the use of the steel square, the laying out of simple roofs and stairs, in reading sketches, plans and blueprints, estimating, cabinet work, and interior, exterior trim. Five lectures. (4). 097. Carpentry Related—For journeymen carpenters Instruction in mathematics and formulas familiar to building-trades and an application of this instruction in preparing bids and proposals for work.
