25, 1900 to 02, Wife died, L. C. go on Mission, Go East, L.C. return sick, moving My wife Still having had poor healt for some time yet not bedfast until August 4th. died on the 6th in the fornoon from Cancer of the Stomac. though we had had Doctor did not Know the cause til few hours before dead came, she was burried on Aug. 9th all her children beeing present. On Aug. 11 my son Lorenzo Started on his Mission. In the Spring of 1901 I again went East as far as Omaha on buisness, and returned by way of Denver, where I visited withe Elias Ashton there on Mission. In May, 1901, Lorenzo came back from his Mission having been laid up with Newmonia several months in Berlin Germany, beeing yet very poor and Advised by Doctors to get outdor work, he desided to join with his Brother Alfred in sheep buisness, I bought his home for $1500.00 back which he invested, but that work not being agreeable to him, he sold out to Alfred and ret. to Salt Lake. I then gave him imployment, failing to get anything more congenial. In spring of 1902 I bought a lot on 2nd S. & Built during Summer & in the fall moved in with my Wife Sophie leaving my 1st Wifes home for the exclusive use of her Daugihers. Mary & Eleanor. taken less than $5.00 value this from 26, 1903 to 04, George died, Salt Milcreek home, went to Worlds Fair In 1903none but currant events In Feb 1904 my youngest child George died on the of Feb. from Hoopencough, a bright & promising child. All summer of 1904 I was in poor healt evidently Kidney Trouble, but overcame same in the fall completely. My Brother Andrew having had very bad luck financialy & being without a home, my self and Wife sold him her former home in Milcreek for $500.00 worth $1500 on conditions that he pays 8% Int. on capital, & principal. as soon as he could. but Should he die then what might be unpaid, should be a gift to his Wife to whom it was Deded in Notes or mortgage being taken. On Sept 17 I & Brother Geo. S. Ashton went together to the Worlds Fair in St. Lewis: we stayed there 7 Days & took a hasty glances of it. to describe it is impossible, it was grand. it is now history & descriptions many, so will not attempt here, will only say that such is a good thing to take seer pride & decipt out both men & Nations, in as much as those whom we have often looked upon as uncivilized, only shames a civilization of another type, likly superior in many things to our own.
