Rice Company in 1867. James Miller Christensen was born in Denmark, converted to Mormonism, and migrated to Utah with the Leonard G. Rice Company in 1867. He settled in Moroni, Utah, where he farmed, ranched, practiced polygamy, and participated in a failed attempt at the United Order. By 1893, Christensen and both of his wives had moved to Salt Lake City. He served three missions to Scandinavia and, during the final, presided over the Scandinavian Mission. |

Show 70, 1907, Dead of Br. Larsens Wife, Birthday of Lady 82 years, Alina Jensen Sick. March 9th finding her better, she had died 2 weeks ago. she was imbalmed so she could be sent home, being hermeticaly sealed at. ev. attended a social at Br. L. Petersens it being Calmers 26th birthday. he had gathered many frinds, spent a pleasant evning. 10th Sunday. att. S. School, & 2 & 6 pm. meetings, & at 5 an invitation att. a choklate party at Christensens Family Charles being years old, after meetings visited an old sister Hansen 81 years old, who had invited frinds to celebrate her birthday which ocurred on the 4th. she related her expirience in Life how she as a Young Women had imbraced the gospel, & been healed by the administration of one Elder. having for a long time had an arm so cripled that the Doctor said only amputation would save it, she was anointed in the evning & in the morning it was well. 11th Did not feel well. got Letter that an Elder Alma Jensen was sick with Apendecities in Norway, asking advice, gave it. The Elders joined & gave Br. F. Christensen a gold Ring it was his birthday on the 10th beeing 70 years, & this beeing his 3rd Mission 71, March 12th Spent Day in Work & Study, & ev in Mutual Elder Larsen & Secty. Madsen enquired & found that Elder Larsen could bring home the Body of his departed Wife. 13th Office work & Study, & att. meeting at night 14th Had Letter from Nora & Lorenzo, wrote home, att. to current buisness. & choir at night. 15th Att. to Office work, & at ev. delivered a Lecture in a Temperance Society. Old Norden) abt 200 being present. Spoke one hour, & had good attentive Choir & Quartet rendered several selections. 16th Work in Office, repairing traveling Rope, at ev. I and all the Elders were invited to H.O. Nielsens to celebrate Elder Madsens Birthday. spent a pleasant evning. 17th Att. S. School, & 2 & 6 p.m. meetings spoke in latter, later went to Sister Dahlgreens on invitation, & spent pleasantly a couple of hours. 18th My Daugther Pearls birthday 7 years old, had Letter from Pres. Penrose that I could release Elder N.J. Larsen to take the Body of his Wife home, though he taught it wise that she be burned here a Reporter called, to find out our side & View of a Statment apearing in ‘Jylands Paster’ from a Fristrup Family that had returned from Utah |
