27, 1904 Sept, Visit Tepl. Lot., Oshkosh Wis., Visit Bros., Oct. Called at Church headquarters 1405 Locust St. was favored by the Brother who gave us The Key to the enclosed Temple lot, which we visited at Independence. Jackson County Missoury on the 20th also went over @ 25 acre ground near by, latly purched by the Church. a very uneven peice of ground. a solem feeling was experienced on the Temple lot proper, a fine peice of Ground on a very heigh spot overlooking all surrounding Country. Leaving St. Lewis on the 28 took Alton R. R. for Chicago arrived 7 am on 29th & at once took train for Millwake & Oshkosh, arrived. 2 pm, found L.D.S. quarters @ 246 Main here Br. Ashton found Lossin Lory. we stayed over night with the Brethren 4 of them after looking over town & aft. Meeting. 30th went to Larsen by Rail, where from on Nov. Nielsen tookus to Winchester where my Brothers August & Alfred lives, were Kindly received & spent a few days. This is a beautiful Country, roling in its nature with forrists & Meadows & Lakes, but bitter cold in Winter, often going below 40 ferenhieth 3rd Br. August took us to Oshkosh, where we stayed over night. here I met a Nephew Christen a Son of Brother Christian in Denmark. 28, 1904 Oct., Chicago Uvty., Visit Nauvo 4th took train for Chicago where we were met by Br. Elias Ashton, a Nephew of my companion George, he was attending the University. which he showed us trough, a magnificent Institution we saw the marmies & a skeleton of a queen which was suposed to be 2600 years old. Saw 12 dead bodies preserved in Brine for desection by Students, & many other things 5 visited Library & several parks & a Tower 394 ft high on top of Montgomery Building. at 10:30 took train over the Burlington for Burlington where we ar. on The morning of 6th here took train for Montrose, crosed the Missisipi River for Nauvoo. The place from where the Saints were driven in the Winter of 1846. Mr. Reinbold owner of the only Hotel loaned us Photograps by which we could Identify many Buildings yet standing and in good conditions though though not all ocupied. where the Temple Stod was Wingard. the Temple Stones were found in Many Buildings, of the best preserved were those of Lorenzo Snow, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruf, Brigham Young all 2 story structures, much better there I expected to see, the Nauvoo house of Stone & Brick Overlooking the River was well preserved. but the Mansion house aposate, also overlooking the river & built
