Rice Company in 1867. James Miller Christensen was born in Denmark, converted to Mormonism, and migrated to Utah with the Leonard G. Rice Company in 1867. He settled in Moroni, Utah, where he farmed, ranched, practiced polygamy, and participated in a failed attempt at the United Order. By 1893, Christensen and both of his wives had moved to Salt Lake City. He served three missions to Scandinavia and, during the final, presided over the Scandinavian Mission. |

Show 106, 1907 Sept 10 Buissey at Office in A.M. & in p.m. went out to ‘Frederiksberg’ to visit Father Emil Moller, he was not home, called on his Mother, 80 years old. at ev. I with Bro. Olsen J.A. visited the J. Olsen Family, was in vited to ‘Kasernen’ but Tought better go to Bro. Olsens. I had Letter from my Wife & Daugther Nora. The latter complaining bitterly & showing a very bad spirrit, it nearly ch crused me. 11 Att. to considerable buisness, & got ready to leave on the Conf. round trip, took boat at 9 for Kristiania (Droning Mand) 12th In morning at 8 arrived in Frederikshavn I & Br. Madsen who was with me visited the Elders quarters, found Br. N. Petersens Wife very sick, we administered to her took a hasty Breakfest. again took boat & arrived in Kr. Ania 9 ev. was met by Pres. Rasmusen & other Elders. We were acompanied by 3 new Elders & a Br. P.A. Nielsen also just arrived, who had a son Laboring in Kr. Ania Conf. at Frederikshavn we were met by Elders P.S. Christiansen Local & Francis Jensen as visitors who a companied us to Kr. Ania, had a fine Voyage, best ever had over skagerack. 107 Sept. 13th Met The Elders, conversed, & looked arround, at ev. att. a well rendered concert. House full of representative people 14th I interviewed all the Elders. & in the late p.m. with others took a Trip on a Tourist Boat in the ‘Fjord’, at ev. att. The 1st Conf. meeting, a goodly number present, & good reports rendered 45 being babtized last 4 ½ months wiht good prospects for the future 15 Sunday att. S. School Conf. it was well attended, children well trained. at 3 & 7 p.m. had Conf. meetings. in the latter The House was packed. & all were attentive, speakers, Victor Madsen I, & Pres. S. Rasmusen, not a word of objection & the Choir rendered fine service 16th In the morning I received Letter from President Penrose, containing my report Release, in the A.M. at 10 att. Preisthood meeting, continued Same Til 2 p.m. Latter considered Apointment of Elders. at ev. att. a Saint meeting, Sacrament was administered & a fine feeling prevailed. Had Letter from home, & wrote several cards 17th Visited Mathiesen Family administered to Sister Ragnad, also visited a Mrs. Hansen both families strangers but frinds, the former |
