Show Marriott-SIaterville City History January 2016 A Public Hearing on a proposed 7 lot subdivision located at approximately 2485 W Pioneer Road was held. Several comments were taken from the audience with the primary concerns being traffic increase and safety, and irrigation. John Duddleston, developer, also addressed the commission and audience saying that most of the proposed homes would be valued in the $450,000 range. After hearing the concerns regarding water issues he said he will comply with all water requirements imposed by the City and all of the homes will be connected to the sewer. Preliminary approved was granted for this subdivision subject to several stipulations. Conceptual approval was given to Kathy Borrett to build an animal hospital in front of IFA at 1095 W 12™ St subject to several stipulations required by the Commission. Public Hearings were also held on a proposed Ordinance amending the uses that are not permitted, permitted, or conditional in all Commercial Zones, and on a proposed amended Subdivision Ordinance. City Council Meeting - January 21. 2016 Council President Scott Van Leeuwen and Vice-President Dennis Ilium were re-elected by acclamation to serve in those position for 2016. Becky Kendell, City Recorder, administered the Oath of office to the newly elected officials who are beginning new terms; i.e. Scott Van Leeuwen, Rob Smout and Dennis Ilium. Mr. Morris informed all council members and staff that they must complete a new disclosure statement and submit it to the City Recorder to be notarized. Council reviewed Business Licenses for the following: Jay Starr Auto, Vo Brothers Mechanical and a rental unit owned by Kim and Dorothy Slater. Beginning this year all landlords are now required to obtain a Business License. If they choose to participate in the Good Landlord program the cost for the license will be half of the original fee. Mayor Butler presented the quarterly financial report and reviewed it with the Council. Mr. Morris presented the annual training on the Open and Public Meetings Act, Unlawful Discrimination, and Sexual Harassment Prevention. Susan Crosthwait, who owns the Willard Peak Market on 2000 W, would like to apply for an $800,000 grant which would expand the market to a grocery store. The Council must approve the grant and three Council members would be required to oversee the project for the first 3 years. After further discussion the issue was tabled due to several concerns regarding the City's liability in the matter. |
