Show Marriott-Slaterville City History June 2016 Pres. Van Leeuwen said at this time the City does not have adequate fire hydrants on the streets. Hydrants should be located 1,000 feet apart and the City is exploring the possibility of imposing a monthly fee of .75 cents per Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) to cover costs for the installation, operation and maintenance of the fire hydrants where needed. Businesses would pay a higher amount. Several issues were raised and this was tabled until the next meeting. The High Country Inn and restaurant on 12'^ street has plans to expand the hotel, add a reception area, an assisted living facility and additional seating to Jeremiah's Restaurant. Because of this the City desires to have the land designated as a survey area, which means further study would be required to determine whether the project area is feasible within one or more community reinvestment areas within the survey area. The Council approved the establishment of the Jeremiah West Survey Area to accomplish this. The County has completed mowing weeds on the side of the roads within the City. UDOT just completed installing a traffic signal on 400 North at the northbound 1-15 Ramp. Bits and Pieces June Regina Slater Meyerhoffer, 93, passed away on June 23, 2016. Kohan Branden Sjostrom, son of Jason Sjostrom and Karley Rae, was born on June 21, 2016. Ray and Diana Ellis celebrated their 50'^ wedding anniversary on June 3, 2016. Ray is a native of Marriott and owns a successful business in our City called Ray's Auto Body. An editorial in the June 6^*^ Standard Examiner from several mayors of the majority of Weber County's cities expressed support for Caitlin Gochnour for the Weber County Commission in the upcoming elections. Madalyn Taylor, an accomplished pianist, is one of only two Utahns and one of 72 pianists from 21 countries selected to compete later this month in the Cliburn International Amateur Piano Competition in Texas. This is her second time competing. In 2011, she was a semi-finalist. |
