Show Marriott-Slaterville City History March 2016 Any law enforcement officer, highway authority or towing agent may seize, without warrant, any vehicle described in Section 10.10.010 above, and may remove or cause such vehicle to be removed and impounded as provided in this Chapter. Any aggrieved person holding an ownership interest in a removed and/or impounded vehicle may file a written appeal within ten (10) days of removal or impoundment under this Chapter to the City's appeal authority, stating that there was a lack of probable cause for such. Mr. Morris clarified that this ordinance will only apply to the tow away zone. If it is not in a tow zone, the Sheriff will be responsible to call out rotation on towing companies. Upcoming events include the Easter Egg Hunt on March 26^'^ at the Slaterville Park, and the First Annual Marriott-Slaterville City Art Show. The Art Show will be held on April 15"^ and 16*'' from 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm at the Marriott-Slaterville City Hall. Admission is free. There will be photography, painting, drawings, woodwork, videography, and all kinds of amazing works of art. Others items of interest were that the City received a host fee from Tear-A-Part for each car that passes through their lot, the recycling program is going well, and Mayor Butler is working on the budget for next fiscal year. Bits and Pieces Gerald Blaine Hoth, 69, passed away on March 11, 2016. Bert Smith, 95, passed away on March 31, 2016. Grace Mae Rowley, daughter of Robert and IMeisha Rowley, was born on March 20, 2016. Noli Jade Stanger, daughter of Jed and Cami Stanger was born on March 9, 2016. An article in the Standard Examiner titled "She Just Keeps Rolling" praised local resident Meg Johnson's skills as a mother. Johnson, who is paralyzed from the chest down and has limited use of her hands has formed a special bond with her 2-year old daughter Zula Mae, who has figured out how to fill many of the gaps left by her mother's limitation despite her age. Johnson's friend, Shae Petersen, noted that Meg s desire to fulfill her calling as a mother runs deep inside her and is very evident. She said they are both inspiring examples to her. An article appeared in the Standard Examiner entitled "Fiddling at the Freeway" about a man named Jason Skeba, who was playing a fiddle on Wednesday, March 9*" along the interstate off-ramp in Marriott-Slaterville. He said he usually doesn't play for money, but had been out of work for two weeks stating that "If I'm in a pinch then I know how to take care of myself." Few people listened to the music' for more than 30 seconds, but the donations were steady. On Sunday, March 2?"' the Standard Examiner featured a Five Generations photograph of the Albiston family. Pictured was Eliza June Martinez [fifth generation] who was born to Aaron and Erica Martinez on January 1, 2016, making five generations of women in the Albiston family. Also included in the photo were Terri [Cottam] Strand (third generation). Erica [Strand] Martinez [fourth generation], June Albiston [first generation], and Sandra [Albiston] Cottam [second generation]. Sandra and her husband Don reside in Marriott-Slaterville. |
