Show Marriott-Siaterville City History April 2016 Marriott-Siaterville Monthly History April 2016 April brought some very welcome rain, along with unseasonably warm temperatures. The first annual Art in April show was a success. Art of all kinds was displayed in the City Hall on April and 16^*^. First, Second and Third Place ribbons were awarded. With spring here it's time to clean up the community. Dumpsters were placed at the Marriott Park and Slaterville Park on April 23'^'' and 24*^^ for resident's use. The City is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the successful arrest and conviction of any person responsible or others involved with vandalizing parks, road signs, or public property. This is an ongoing problem within our City which could be impacted with more citizen involvement. The State of Utah now handles burn permits, which can be obtained by visiting the Department of Air Quality website at www.airaualitv.utah.gov. The spring burn permit window is March 31^^ to May 30'\ The North Slaterville Irrigation Company held its annual shareholders meeting on April 14, 2016 at 7:00 pm at the Marriott-Siaterville Senior Center. The City is seeking families or businesses interested in adopting or sponsoring a section in the community gardens. Anyone interested can contact the City Office. Planning Commission Meeting - cancelled for April City Council Meeting - cancelled for April Bits and Pieces Jackson Bryan Adam, son of Taylor and Shelby Adam was born on April 14, 2016. An evening of chamber music was presented by pianist Shijun Wang and cellist Christopher Grueninger at the First United Methodist Church in Marriott-Siaterville on Friday, April 22, 2016. Jamie Child, an Ogden cello player, and Ryan Bell, an Ogden bass player, also took part in the recital which presented some works of J.S. Bach. An article in the Standard Examiner on April 23'^'' featured some members of the First United Methodist Church in Marriott-Siaterville that have taken up beekeeping at the church, turning it into a ministry that raises money for the congregation. The ministry began three years ago when Kristen Bell wanted to raise bees like she had in her youth in Vermont. She realized she didn't have the space for them at her own residence, so she approached the church, which sits in the middle of an agricultural zone and already has interests in gardening and agriculture. |
