Show Marriott-Slaterville City History December 2016 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History December 2016 December turned bitterly cold and brought record breaking temperatures we have not experienced for a decade. We also received large amounts of much needed snow. The annual Christmas Message from Councilman Kim Slater this year talked about what a privilege it is to live in this great community. He said that for the most part we are minutes away from big city amenities, yet to an extent we remain sheltered from city life. He feels that our local city organization really cares about its citizens and works hard to maintain the atmosphere that makes us great. On behalf of everyone in the city organization who works to make this city great, Councilman Slater wished each resident a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy and prosperous New Year. Residents can view www.marriott-slaterville.org to find resources and information about our community. The City History link will take you to the digital library at Weber State University where our City History is archived, along with oral histories from some of our longtime residents. Emergency Management resources help you plan with your family in the event of a disaster. Links to presentations and other documents provide valuable information about organization, planning, transportation and projects. Breakfast with Santa was held at the Senior Center on Saturday, December from 9 am to 11 am. During the winter season no parking is allowed on roads during and after snowstorms in order for the snow plows to operate. Weber County plows the most traveled roads first; subdivisions and lesser traveled roads will be plowed last. Residents and businesses with sidewalks are responsible to remove the snow from the sidewalk within 24-hours after a snowstorm. Planning Commission Meeting for Tuesday, December 20. 2016 was cancelled City Council Meeting - December 15. 2016 Doug Larsen from Weber County Economic Development presented the Jeremiah's West Plan to the Council. This Plan encompasses the upcoming construction of the Assisted Living Center and expansion of Jeremiah's Restaurant and hotel. In June 2016 the survey area was approved and authorized the Plan to be prepared. Mr. Larsen estimates that the local sales tax to be generated will be $650,000, with an additional $400,000 in transient room taxes to the City. The project will occur over a 15-year period and the total property tax accumulation is expected to be approximately $2.2 million. Ryan Child, Independent Auditor from Wood-Richards & Associates, presented the Financial Statements and Audit Report for Fiscal Year ending June 30, 2016. He stated that the audit report is complete, along with a review of the balance sheets and financial statements. |
