Show Marriott-Slaterville City History May 2016 Scott Slater has compiled a dark sky lighting ordinance and will be asked to help draft an ordinance for the City. Councilman Hodson inquired about the buffers Sierra RV was supposed to provide once their facility was completed and Mr. Morris responded that he has received a list of suggested buffers from them. At this point they are considering certain varieties of trees to serve that purpose. Nearby resident Carl Slater expressed his concern over the red Sierra light on their building which shines into the rear of his house. He feels he should have some rights regarding that and would like some type of buffer. Mr. Morris suggested that they mediate this issue with Jared Jensen, co-owner of Sierra RV. Mr. Morris announced that the Morris Meadows subdivision has fallen through and is now slated to be sold for a 10-lot subdivision with a Muslim Mosque and school. Bits and Pieces London Graham, daughter of Robert and Lindsey Graham, was born on May 12, 2016. Pearl Christine Hess, daughter of Dallas and Amy Hess, was born on May 11, 2016. Tyler Slater Ortega, son of Lindsey and Ryan Ortega, was born on May 23, 2016. Lauren Holley, daughter of Shawn and Marilyn Holley, has returned home after serving an LDS mission in the London, England South Mission. A Letter to the Editor published in the Standard Examiner on Monday, May 2, 2016 praised the local story they published ("Beekeeping ministry teaches stewardship of the earth," April 23, 2016). Chris Hicks of Farr West, who is one of the beekeepers at the Marriott-Slaterville First United Methodist Church, said he enjoyed putting Sarah Welliver and JaNae Francis in beekeeping gear and taking them out to the hives and garden area. The Utah Renaissance Festival returned to our city again for May merriment. Pirates, gypsies, fairies, belly dancers, blacksmiths and more will be entertaining the community through the end of May during the 11 annual Utah Renaissance Festival and Fantasy Faire. The event will run every Saturday and Sunday during the month, with a special May 30"^ Memorial Day celebration this year. After almost 20 years in Sunset, Sierra RV has moved to Marriott-Slaterville in Weber County. Jared Jensen, co-owner of the RV dealership told the Standard Examiner that the dealership has completely moved from its smaller. Sunset location to its new home in Marriott-Slaterville, at 110 S 1700 W. A ribbon cutting ceremony, which will include county and Marriott-Slaterville officials will be held Friday, May 20' at 4:00 pm. The new location has 43 acres, compared to only about 12.5 acres in the Sunset location. The Utah Department of Transportation will begin rehabilitation work on 1-15 from the 1-84 interchange in Riverdale, to the SR-134 (2700 North) Interchange in Farr West on Friday, June 3'". This work will consist of removing 1.5 inches of the asphalt surface on the roadway and then repaving with new asphalt. This process will continue through mid-September, with the majority of the work happening at night. |
