Show Marriott-Slaterville City History November 2016 Marriott-Slaterville Monthly History November 2016 Our mild fall weather continued into the month of November, as temperatures were more than 10 degrees above normal, once again raising concerns about possibly receiving less than adequate precipitation for the winter. However, that all changed when temperatures finally dropped and we received our first snow on November The weatherman said our unseasonably warms temperatures are gone until next year and we are back to normal temperatures for now. The first major snowstorm of the winter was received on Monday, November 28"^. Fees for various services within the City will Increase effective January 1, 2017: Sewer will increase to $24.48 for residents inside the district and $75 for residents outside the district. Garbage rates will increase by .25C and water rates will increase $3.00 a month. A new monthly fire hydrant fee of .50C for residential and $1 for commercial will be added to the water bill for fire hydrant Installation and maintenance. The lack of fire hydrants in the City is causing problems for some residents with homeowners insurance, and creates a fire hazard. Each year residents have an opportunity to nominate a person or business in the community for our annual community awards: The Good Neighbor Award, Eina Lucas Community Culture/History Award, H. Orvil Holley Youth Leadership Award and Darrell Mecham Community Service Award. The deadline for nominations is December 5, 2016. The annual City Christmas Party will commence at 7:00 pm after the City Council Meeting on December 15, 2016. Santa Clause will be visiting Marriott-Slaterville City on Saturday, December 10, 2016 from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at the Senior Center. Cost is $3 for adults and $2 for children 12 and under. With the upcoming winter weather no parking will be allowed on roads during and after snowstorms in order for the snow plows to operate. Weber County plows the most traveled roads first, and subdivisions and lesser traveled roads will be plowed last. Residents and businesses with sidewalks are responsible to remove the snow from the sidewalk within 24- hours after a snowstorm. Planning Commission Meeting scheduled for November 15, 2016 was cancelled. Citv Council Meeting-November 17. 2016 Council approved Business Licenses for JDML Corporation and a home occupation for Jerry Stanger. The first Public Hearing was held regarding the Community Development Block Grant program. The purpose of the Hearing was to consider potential projects for which funding may be applied under the 2016-17 CDBG year. Staff explained that the grant money must be spent on projects |
