Course Requirements for Pre-Medicine The goal of the pre-medical program is to prepare students for a national competitive examination (the MCAT) and for medical school admission and courses. The pre-medical program is compatible with a variety of majors. Pre-medical classes and/or emphases exist within several departments of the College of Science. Students would complete the three-year training program by completing a course of study leading to an Associate of Science degree in the first two years, and a laboratory-intensive course of study in the third year that would qualify them for a Biotechnician Certificate. » Grade Requirements: Cumulative GPA of 2.00 or higher. » Credit Hour Requirements: Total of 93 credit hours is required— 67 of these are required within the program. An additional 46 credit hours is required for the Institutional Certificate. A total of 13 upper division credit hours (courses numbered 300 and above) is required for the A.S. degree.
