Show 246 247 Institute of American Indian Botany The Institute is dedicated to the study of American Indian Botany and provides a place where all of those who have interest can learn, conduct research, teach, and preserve for generations yet to come, this segment of our great American heritage. Botany Major BACHELOR DEGREE (B.S. AND B.A.) » Program Prerequisite: Not required. » Minor: A minor is required. Botany majors getting a B.S. will meet the requirements for a minor in Chemistry . » Grade Requirements: An overall GPA of 2.00 in all courses required for this major. Also refer to the general grade requirements for graduation on page 32 of this catalog. » Credit Hour Requirements: A total of 183 credit hours is required for graduation - a minimum of 86-120 of these is required within the major. A total of 60 upper division credit hours is required (courses numbered 300 and above) — this requirement is fulfilled by completing either the Botany B.A. or B.S. degree. Advisement Majors are encouraged to consult with an advisor annually. Contact the Botany department (626-6174). Admission Requirements Declare your program of study (refer to page 30 of this catalog). There are no special admission or application requirements for this program. Core and General Education Refer to page 32-36 of this catalog for either Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Arts requirements. The following courses required for the Botany major will also satisfy General Education requirements: Botany LSI 10, Chem PSlll orPS121, Phsx PS 101 or PSlll and PS114, and Zool LS160. All Botany majors are required to develop a portfolio. The portfolio requirements are explained in detail when a student takes Botany 298. A total of 60 upper division hours is required (courses numbered 300 and above) - 53-64 are required within the major.
