Show CONTINUING EDUCATION Paul G. Butterfield, Dean Dix W. Cloward, Assistant to the Dean John F. Gisler, Assistant to the Dean Continuing Education has responsibility for the development of quality programs for the adult part-time student as well as for extending services of the college faculty and facilities to the people of the community, the region, and the state. To accomplish this end, three general areas, Evening and Off- Campus Programs, Community Development, and Summer School have been developed. The general objectives of the Continuing Education Program are those of the institution. In addition the following specific objectives serve to extend the resources of the College to the adult community: 1. To provide a broad curricular program at the college level which will aid those who cannot normally pursue an educational program during the day in advancing toward goals ordinarily sought by full-time students. 2. To provide courses and programs of value and interest to idults which meet specialized needs not ordinarily satisfied by the egular college day program. 3. To provide educational extension services which will mprove proficiency of personnel employed in industry, business ind government. 4. To provide an extension of the day school which will ncrease the number of class sections to accommodate more students nd to allow them greater flexibility in registration. 5. To be cognizant of community needs for educational •rograms which show promise; to keep abreast of community de- elopments; and to serve as the liaison between the community and he Schools of the College for use of faculty and facilities for assisting a community problems in business, government, industry, and local iroblems experienced by the adult population. PROGRAMS OF STUDY Many of the courses listed in the day section of the catalog will »e taught in the Evening and Off-Campus programs in addition to hose listed in the Continuing Education Section. 379 |
