Show Continuing Education — Conference and Institutes Studies HEAD START SUPPLEMENTARY TRAINING DEPARTMENT Head Start Supplementary Training Department serves the needs of all Head Start personnel interested in taking college credit classes. These classes are offered through Weber State College, University of Utah, Utah State University, Brigham Young University, and the College of Eastern Utah. Weber State College is the grantee which administers this program. HUMAN RESOURCE DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT The Human Resource Development Department operates under the area of Community Development within Continuing Education. Priority is given to the development of human power and talents which will raise the aspirations and abilities of the people of the Ogden area in particular and the State of Utah in general. This department is not limited in its scope. It promotes programs and activities which improve the quality of human existance within the total society. SUMMER SCHOOL Paul G. Butterfield, Dean Jerry P. Peterson, Coordinator Weber State College offers a full quarter of work in summer school. It is designed to serve the needs of the following: 1. High School graduates who recognize the importance ol securing additional academic training before entering the Armec Services, who wish to make up deficiencies before entering medical dental, or engineering schools, or who wish to prepare for positions 2. Adults who wish educational guidance, training, or genera self-improvement. 3. College men and women who desire to accelerate comple tion of an academic degree. 4. Veterans who wish to take advantage of their GI schooling opportunities. 5. Employees who wish to improve their vocational skills. CONFERENCES AND INSTITUTE STUDIES DEPARTMENT The Conferences and Institute Studies Department is designee to assist the various schools of the College in serving the educationa conference needs of groups from all segments of society who desir Continuing Education — Academic Information information and instruction in specific fields. Services provided by Continuing Education consist of program planning, budget development and arrangements for physical facilities. ACADEMIC INFORMATION Admissions Requirements How to Qualify—Continuing Education classes are available to persons who are 18 years of age or older (not attending high school), or who have graduated from high school, or have passed the high school level General Education Development test with scores specified by the College. In order to receive credit toward an academic degree, however, a student must qualify for admission according to the criteria outlined on page 39 of this catalog. Students on suspension from a college or university must apply for admission or re-admission, and be accepted, before college credit will be allowed. Academic Standards—In all cases where degree credit is granted academic standards of the Division of Continuing Education are the same as those of the Day School, and are outlined beginning on page 56. Counseling Counseling in the area of vocational choice, educational planning, or any personal concerns is available by appointment to students of the Evening School during evening school hours. Students of the Evening School who are unable to arrange for counseling during evening school hours may arrange for an appointment to see a counselor during the day. Appointments may be made through the main office of the Counseling Center, Weber State College. Numbering of Classes See page 90 of the catalog. Fees, Deposits and Refunds Evening Classes—The charge for each Evening School class is published in the Evening School Schedule. Evening School students will be charged a lecture fee of $.50 a quarter and a building fee of $3.00 a quarter regardless of the number of quarter hours for which they enroll. Off-Campus Classes—The charge for Off-Campus classes is lormally one dollar higher per credit hour than the fee published in the Evening School schedule. Specialized classes are contracted iccording to costs incurred in setting up and operating the class. 382 383 |
