Show Services of the College Freshmen and sophomore students desiring to commute from their homes to Weber State College daily may do so by indicating this desire to the Housing Office prior to registration at the College. Students affected by this policy who commute are expected to comply with the policy should they later decide to move to Ogden rather than commute from their homes. In unusual circumstances, the Housing and Food Service Committee make exceptions to the above policies when a written request is submitted by the parents of the student. Permission must be received prior to registration. Any student may apply for permission to live in a residence hall. When applications for admission to residence halls exceed the available facilities, the Director of Housing shall decide which students will be admitted. Inasmuch as Weber State College is concerned about the welfare of students not living at home but living in off-campus facilities, the college may investigate such arrangements. APARTMENT HALLS Lasal and Stansbury Halls—Apartment-type residence halls for women students. Each hall has facilities for 72 students, accommodating six students per apartment. Facilities include combination living room-kitchen, bath, storage, and three two- student bedrooms. Each apartment is equipped with a refrigerator, range, table, chairs, drapes, study lamps, chest of drawers, closets, and beds. Telephones may be installed if desired, and the cost is shared by those in the apartment. Electricity is provided by the College. Cooking utensils, dishes, towels, bed linens, blankets, bedspreads, irons, ironing boards for use in the apartments, and all other personal effects are to be furnished by the student. BOARD AND ROOM HALLS Wasatch Hall—A large two wing hall that accommodates 111 women students in each wing. There are ample study- recreational facilities, including a large living room. Residents share a room with another student and are furnished bed linens, window drapes, comfortable beds, lamps, study desks, chairs, chests of drawers, and closets. Blankets, bedspreads, towels, and other personal effects are furnished by the student. Meals are eaten in the new Promontory Tower cafeteria. Twenty meals per week are provided; the Sunday evening meal is omitted. Promontory Tower—This new twelve-story highrise hall accommodates 36 men students per floor. Most residents share 74 Services of the College a room with another student and are furnished bed linens, window drapes, comfortable beds, lamps, study desks, chairs, chests of drawers, and closets. Students furnish blankets, bedspreads, towels, and other personal effects. Single rooms are also available. Twenty meals per week are served in the cafeteria on the main floor of this building. The Sunday evening meal is omitted. Other facilities include living room, laundry rooms, recreation room, study rooms, TV rooms, music rooms, and floor lounges. Applications, Procedures, and Policies—Interested students are invited to visit with or direct inquiries and requests for applications to the Director of Housing, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Upon request, an application and housing information brochure will be furnished. The application should then be completed and returned with a $25 deposit. This deposit will be refunded upon completion of the Annual Housing Occupancy Contract. Priority lists are based on date of receipt of application. Room assignments are normally made by your Head Resident prior to your arrival. Acceptance of application and advance payment does not constitute admission to the College. Application for admission to the College is made at the Admissions Office, Weber State College, Ogden, Utah. Students living in college operated residence halls agree by written contract to retain their accommodations for the academic year. Charges for college facilities are payable in advance. IF PAYMENTS ARE PAST DUE, THE STUDENT WILL BE RESTRICTED FROM BOARD AND ROOM SERVICES. Students who are living in the apartments and desire a transfer to board and room accommodations have first preference for occurring vacancies over students not living in the residence halls. Some students have found where they desire apartments it is more practical for them to accept board and room accommodations and request apartments as soon as a vacancy occurs and is available to them. Pets, explosives, alcohol, and gambling are prohibited in college residence halls. Firearms and ammunition must be stored in the student housing weapons cabinets. Students are responsible for knowing specific policies related to their residence hall. Residential Housing—The Student Housing Office provides up-to-date listings of facilities available in the community. The student assumes responsibility with the householder, in off- campus rentals. Charges for board and room range from $70 to $90 per month. Apartment and room only rates range from $50 to $85 per month, and $18 to $30 per month respectively. 75 |
