Show DIVISION OF CONTINUING EDUCATION Paul G. Butterfield, Dean Assistant to the Dean, John F. Gisler; Coordinators, Terry E. Paskins, Jerry P. Peterson, Charles B. Swenson. The general objectives of the Continuing Education Program are those of the institution as listed on pages 23-28. In addition the following specific objectives serve to extend the resources of the College to the adult community: 1. To provide a broad curricular program at the college level which will aid those who cannot normally pursue an educational program during the day in advancing toward goals ordinarily sought by full-time students. 2. To provide courses and programs of value and interest to adults which meet specialized needs not ordinarily satisfied by the regular college day program. 3. To provide educational extension services which will improve proficiency of personnel employed in industry, business and government. 4. To provide an extension of the day school which will increase the number of class sections to accommodate more students and to allow them greater flexibility in registration. 5. To be cognizant of community needs for educational programs which show promise; to keep abreast of community developments; and to serve as the liaison between the community and the Schools of the College for use of faculty and facilities for assisting in community problems in business, government, industry, and local problems experienced by the adult population. EVENING SCHOOL AND CAMPUS PROGRAM Jerry P. Peterson, Coordinator The Evening School serves the needs of adults and youth of the Weber State College area who desire courses for personal improvement or wish to increase their skills for occupational efficiency. It also serves those students who find it expedient to attend evening classes instead of day classes. Some special classes which are within the purview of the Continuing Education Division may be held during daytime hours on campus when the need is established. 35 |
