Show Education Education and recommended for minors in Physical Education, Health Education and Recreation are: Zoology 20, 21, Psychology 1, Health Education 3, Family Life 6, Speech 1, Library Science 40, Chemistry 5 and Physics 5. Also nine hours of Physical Education activities in six different activities; i.e., swimming, dancing, gymnastics, weight training, individual sports and team sports. Physical Education Major - Forty-five hours of approved courses including the following: 10 hours, Techniques and Materials (including P.E. 105), P.E. 83, 85, 150, 151, 154, 160, 161, 162, 163, 190, Health Education 105, 110. Emphasis in Health Education, Recreation Education, Physical Therapy, Dance, Coaching, and Elementary School Physical Education is permitted with the consent of the department. The courses of emphasis are recommended primarily in the area of materials and techniques of the specialized fields. Physical Education Teaching Major and Teaching Minor - same requirements as for the departmental major or minor plus professional education requirements for the secondary school teacher certificate. Minors will be offered in Physical Education, Health Education, and Recreation Education by fulfilling 25 hours of approved courses as follows: Physical Education Minor - Twenty-five hours of approved courses including P.E. 83, 161, 162, and 8 hours of Techniques and Materials. Physical Education Minor with Dance Emphasis - Twenty- five hours of approved courses including P.E. 31, 37, 39, 40, 83, 85, 105, 109, 114, 111, 142, 161. Health Education Teaching Minor—Twenty-five hours approved in advance by the head of the Health Education program which may be selected from the following: H.E. 3, 110, 112, 113; Zoology 20, 30; Psychology 54, 114, 140, 145; Sociology 123, 143; Microbiology 1, 5, 170; Family Life 6. Recreation Education Minor—Twenty-five hours of approved courses including: 6 hours of recreation activities, R.E. 80, 88 (W), 89 (M), 160, 155, Physical Education 31, 83, 105, 106 (M), 107 (W), 108, 154, 157. Intramural Sports - Intramural sports programs are conducted for men and women. The Men's Intramural Association, under the direction of Richard Williams, is organized to conduct the program for all men students. The Women's Intramural Association is under the direction of JoAnn Otte and is organized to conduct the program for all women students. Competition in individual and group sports is provided. Extramural Sports—The Extramural sports program is conducted for women under the direction of Carol Westmoreland. It is conducted to give women the opportunity for participation in individual and group sports in competition with women students of surrounding colleges and universities. Orchesis - This program under the direction of Sharon Evans is conducted to give women and men students the opportunity for creative dance study, composition, and performance; also, to stimulate interest in dance and to foster standards of performance, appreciation and understanding of dance as an art form.
