Office Organization and Management—Principles of office organization and management; duties of the manager; selection and training of office personnel; layout and workflow systems and procedures analysis; forms design and control; selection and care of supplies and equipment. Methods of Teaching Shorthand and Office Practice —Analysis of textbooks and research into methods of teaching shorthand theory, speed and transcription with special emphasis on standards of achievement, testing, grading, and effective planning and organization of course content, standards of work, testing and grading of office practice courses. Methods of Teaching Typewriting and Other Business Subjects—Analysis of textbooks and research into methods of teaching typewriting, calculators, bookkeeping, general business, business mathematics, business law, economic geography, etc. Presentation of material on various levels with special emphasis on standards, achievement, testing and grading. Secretarial Practicum and Seminar—Practical experience in secretarial skills, actual on-the-job training as a "student secretary" of a minimum of three hours per week, and a weekly group seminar. The "on-the-job training" may be waived by acceptable prior secretarial work experience.
