Show Technology Technology COSMETOLOGY The following curriculum is designed for the student who desires to become a cosmetologist and who plans to qualify for the State Board Examination at the completion of one year of training. At the completion of this curriculum a Certificate of Proficiency will be awarded. 1. Hair Dressing and Hair Shaping—Sculpture curling and hair styling. Five laboratories. A W (5) Lundquist 2. Sterilization—Care and sterilization of equipment and instruments; personal and public hygiene and personality. Five lectures. A W S (5) Lundquist, Harlin 3. Permanent Waving and Shampooing—Methods of permanent waving. Five laboratories. A W S (5) Harlin 4. Body Systems—A study of cells, tissues, organs and systems of the body. Five lectures. A W S (5) Lundquist, Harlin 5. Scalp Treatments—Special treatments of the hair shaft and scalp. Five laboratories. A W S (5) Lundquist 6. Anatomy and Physiology—Osteology, myology, neurology, angiology, and a study of the endocrine system. Five laboratories. A W S (5) Lundquist, Harlin 7. Manicuring and Hand Moulding—Structure of the nail. Plain and lactol manicuring; hand and arm massaging. Five laboratories. A W S (5) Harlin 8. Hair Tinting—Tinting, coloring, bleaching and toning. Five lecture-laboratories. A W S (5) Lundquist 9. Skin and Its Appendages—Structure of the skin and the hair. An analysis of skin and scalp disorders that can be treated by the Cosmetician. Facial Massage and Make up—Facial massage and skin treatments including toning, make-up and lash and brow tinting. Five lecture-laboratories. A W S (5) Harlin 12. Chemistry and Electricity—Electricity and currents; wall plates, high frequency and their uses; also, the chemistry of cosmetics. Five lectures. Students majoring in Diesel Service and completing the required course of study as indicated in the catalog may graduate with a Certificate of Completion. The student who desires to continue on and complete a Bachelor of Science Degree must do so in the Automotive Engineering Technology Department. He should make application with the Department Chairman, so an interview may be conducted to determine grade point average and a suitable course of study outlined. Additional time will be required to complete a Bachelor of Science Degree from this two-year program because of area requirements and related subjects have not been satisfied with this curriculum. 021.
