Show September 12, 2000 Volunteers needed for area fort dig OGDEN - Volunteers are needed for an archeological dig of the Bingham's Fort site at 10 a.m., Saturday. The dig is being sponsored by Nelson Intermountain Crane, Friends of Bingham's Fort and Marriott Heritage Foundation. Those interested in participating should meet at 301 W. 2nd St. with a shovel and gloves. The Bingham Fort area was settled in 1849. The fort contained cabins, stores and a molasses mill as well as a schoolhouse. It was disbanded in 1856.
