LOCAL UPDATES City entry signs. For some time residents have asked the city to create signs for the entryways to our community. Entryway signs are. used in most other cities and towns as a method of identity and to depict characteristics of that community. The Meyerhoffer and Van Leuween families have graciously donated funds to aid in the purchase of six monument type entryway signs. The signs were designed by the city with help from an outdoor sign company. The signs will be constructed to meet road standards and depict the rural characteristics of our area. The city is still seeking funds for the purchase of the entryway signs. If you are interested in making a donation please contact the city office at 627-1919. Thank you for any funds you can spare for this project. UDOT 1900 West 12th Street overpass delayed. UDOT has delayed its widening of 1900 West and 12th Street until later this year or next year because of delays in designing, storm water control and property acquisition. Elections. Municipal election are held during odd numbered years like 2001. This 2001 election there were three offices were open for filing during July and August. Only three residents filed, all are incumbents. Keith Butler filed for Mayor. Kim Slater filed for Council District West, and Delbert Hodson for Council District East. There will be no primary, so the election will be in November. Community booth at the fair. Special thanks to Shauna Meyerhoffer for her work on the community booth featured at the Weber County Fair. Marriott Park and Slaterville Park. Each week the city office receives numerous calls from individuals and groups seeking to schedule the Marriott Park or the Slaterville Park for an activity. This has created a great deal of confusion since most of the calls are from individuals or groups outside the city. However, the city wishes to remind everyone that these two parks are operated by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints so contact that organization to schedule these parks, not the city. On occasion, the city may rent the parks for an activity because there is no equivalent city park. Also, the city is working on a long term plan for parks in our community.
