Show Council and Mayor followed Planning Commission recommendation and eliminated Planned Unit Residential Development until a better ordinance can be drafted. Council and Mayor approved of an ordinance which allows for agriculture protection areas. Ogden Planners met with our Planning Commission on issues related to DDO landscaping. It was reiterated at this meeting that no new road would be allowed to enter 1200 West near 200 North. The planning Commission approved of a 40' bermed buffer landscaped easement the length of 1200 West, and asked Ogden to give serious consideration to putting a pathway along this area. Seven challengers came out to play their strategy at the Checker Tournament earlier this month. Thanks is given to Gerald Taylor for hosting this event. FORT UP! At Binqham's Fort Day Date: Saturday, September 9, 2000 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. EVERYONE IS WELCOME Location: Meet at Harrisville Stake Center ball park, 115 Childs Ave. (behind Harmons). Bingham's Fort was built by pioneer settlers in the 1850s at the direction of Brigham Young who told settlers to "Fort up!" after hostilities with local Indians erupted. However, when the Indian troubles subsided and a local famine occurred Indians actually took shelter in the fort with the settlers. Brigham Young called this "the great experiment" where Indians lived side-by-side with the pioneer settlers. The fort served early pioneer families in Marriott, Slaterville, Lynn, and other pioneer settlements. Remnants of the fort still exist along present day 2nd Street in Ogden. Historical documents about the fort, its settlers, and early Indians are on file at city hall for you to enjoy. Join the activity and spend time with your family in remembering our pioneer heritage in this area. Want to place your ad in the newsletter? Call 627-1919 for prices and details.
