Show STEPHEN PERRY: Born - 12 August 1797, Chester, Windsor, Vermont Died - 29 December 1886 Blessing - given 30 April 1845, at Nauvoo, Illinois, by Patriarch John Smith. Lineage of Jacob and Joseph. Ref. Vol 9 (possibly 19), Page 152, #168 in Church Offices (Book not available to public). The father of William Howard Perry was a large man, considerably over six feet tall. He was talented in many things. He was a brick mason, and could hew a log straighter than many could with a chalk line. He extracted teeth and set broken bones. When a baby was born with a hair lip, he could straighten it and stitch it in place. There were no drugs to deaden pain then. He had a good singing voice. He was a very religious man. Throughout his lifetime he was sent to visit the sick far and near until old age prevented him from such activity. An honest man, he was loved and respected by all who knew him. He was the father of five sons and two daughters. He died at the age of 94 years. (Taken from paragraph written by a daughter of William Howard Perry.) 215 |
