It will take place at 7 p.m. at Pioneer Elementary School. -- Standard-Examiner America First Credit moves to Ogden's 12th street November 2, 2001 Two-employee branch has operated since 1970 at U.S. Army defense depot By DAVID TROESTER Standard-Examiner staff OGDEN - America First Credit Union is closing its Business Depot Ogden branch and opening an expanded facility off 12th Street to replace it. The two-employee Depot branch has been in operation since 1970, when the facility was a U.S. Army defense depot. The depot became a business park last year. America First is required to va-cate the facility this month to allow further development of the park. The branch will close Nov. 13. The new, temporary branch will be located at 1263 W. 12th St., between Weber County Farm Bureau and Jeremiah's Restaurant. The prefabricated facility is scheduled to open Nov. 19. It will have expanded hours, Monday through Saturday; four interior teller windows and two drive-up windows. The Business Depot branch has two interior windows and no drive-up windows. "We found a property that is located in a high-traffic area. It's more accessible," said Keicha Chapman, America First public relations coordinator. The company plans to begin construction of a permanent branch at the 1.7-acre 12th Street site next year. The permanent building will be at the intersection of 1200 West and 12th St., east of the Farm Bureau. Employees from the Depot branch will transfer to the new facility and additional employees will be hired. The new branch is the third opened by America First in about a month. Two of the three are in Weber County. A branch was opened at 756 W. 1700 South in Syracuse late last month, followed by another at 358 North Harrisville Road, in Harrisville Oct. 9. The credit Union closed a branch at 321 2nd Street in Ogden with the opening of the Harrisville branch. There are 47 branches statewide. America First is Utah's largest credit union, with $2.07 billion in assets. That includes nearly $1.6 billion in loans, $20 million in cash and $55 million in fixed assets.
