Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY SEPTEMBER 2000 September ended a long, hot summer. As the weather slowly cooled off so did commotion at the city office. The city was awarded a grant by the Utah Quality Growth Commission for a nature park on 1700 West just above the Slaterville Diversion Dam. Duncan Murray and Bill Morris worked hard to bring this grant to reality. If everything can be worked out, this area will become a nice new nature preserve. Jim Ito, Parks and Recreation, will manage the new park. Jim is in the process of putting together an advisory committee to develop a management plan if this park is eventually acquired. The City Council approved Resolution 2000-B on the new Weber County Waste Transfer Station. This resolution was initiated at the request of Weber County because the county landfill has reached capacity. The county recently constructed a waste transfer station in Wilson Lane south of 21st Street to transport waste out of the area by railroad. The city's resolution agreed to encourage the use of this new facility. 132 |
