Show MARRIOTT-SLATERVILLE CITY HISTORY MARCH 2001 An aura of romance permeated the city offices early this month, and visitors could almost hear the wedding bells. City Recorder William M. Morris married Erin Rasmussen on March 10, 2001, in the Manti Temple. The best wishes of our community are extended to them J After attending the Citizens Academy class on gang violence and awareness sponsored by the Sheriff's Department, Mayor Keith Butler expressed concern about this problem. Although our City has been fortunate in the past, the possibility, even probability, exists that some of our youth are just as vulnerable to gang involvement as any other young people. With this in mind, Mayor Butler has asked the City staff and the Youth Council to schedule a gang awareness class for our community to be held sometime this year. March 24 was declared Scouting for Food Day by Mayor Butler. The Trapper Trails Council of the Boy Scouts of America sponsored the food drive in the community. Some inconvenience may be experienced by residents over the next few months as West Haven installs a high pressure sewer line along 2800 West to the sewer plant. A new business on Twelfth Street, the A-zhan Bistro Chinese Restaurant, was opened this month. Mayor Butler conducted the ribbon cutting ceremony for the grand opening. 140 |
