Marriott-Slaterville History July 2000 The City Council hosted a series of public hearings at their July 6, 2000, meeting. Several ordinances were passed and were approved by the Mayor, a summary of which follows: 1. Compensation for elected and statutory officers. The Mayor, Council members, and Treasurer will begin receiving nominal compensation for service in our second year as a city. The Recorder, Bill Morris, received a raise. 2. Zoning and Land Use Enforcement. Zoning enforcement has been a problem in the community even before the city formed. There has been no process for handling complaints or for enforcement of the ordinance. The new ordinance has created a procedure to handle violations and puts some teeth into enforcement, yet is still deemed fair for the property owners. 3. Wireless Communication Towers. The new ordinance, with some changes is modeled after that of North Ogden. 4. Textual General Plan Amendment. This provides an option allowed in state law that any zoning changes must comply with the general plan. Hopefully, this will help ensure more consistent rezoning changes and eliminate the contradictory language in the current ordinance. 2 130
