Show General Education Requirements REQUIREMENTS FOR BACHELOR DEGREES Minimum Requirements —A candidate for graduation with a Bachelor of Arts, a Bachelor of Science or a Bachelor of General Studies Degree, must have completed a minimum of 183 credits. Upper Division Requirement — A minimum of 60 credits of upper division work. Major Requirements — Major programs which require a minor will consist of not fewer than 40 and not more than 60 credits in the major field, major programs without a minor shall consist of not more than 85 credits in the major field. Minor Requirements — A minor is a program of study generally selected to complement and strengthen a student's major and/or enrich the student's overall educational program. Some bachelor degree programs do not require a minor. See your major program of study outline to determine if a minor is required. For the minors available, see the Majors and Minors listing in this catalog. Change in Graduation Requirements — Students normally are held to the requirements outlined in the catalog published four years before the year of their graduation. Where there is written agreement between a department chairperson and a student, graduation requirements within a student's major or minor may be met by completing the requirements outlined in any catalog published one, two, or three years before the year of graduation. With the approval of the Graduation Office a student may also complete the specific and general education requirements by following the requirements outlined in a catalog published one, two, or three years before graduation. Residence Requirement —A candidate for the Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of General Studies Degree must have a minimum of 45 credits in residence at Weber State College and be registered at the College during at least one quarter following the last commencement prior to graduation. Foreign Language Requirement — A candidate for a Bachelor of Arts degree must complete 24 credits, or the equivalent, in one or more approved foreign languages. A maximum of 15 college credits from high school may count toward filling the foreign language requirement, provided the student can pass an examination to demonstrate proficiency in the subject. (For a list of examinations see the Foreign Language Department in this catalog). Transfer credit from another institution will be recognized without an examination. School or Department Requirements —Further information concerning specific courses will be provided under the discussion of school or department requirements and instructions.
