Howard, Dean Nikki Hansen, Associate Dean The School of Arts and Humanities offers comprehensive programs encompassing the visual and performing arts, languages, literature, communications, and mathematics. The programs of the School are designed to help students gain a thorough understanding of their cultural and aesthetic heritage, and to prepare them for employment opportunities that will take advantage of the special skills developed through rigorous study of the the humanities. The educational and cultural programs of the departments are available to both major and non-major students. Students may take departmental or teaching majors and minors for a Baccalaureate Degree in the following fields: Majors Minors Art and Photography Art Communication Photography English Communications Foreign Languages English Mathematics Foreign Languages Music Mathematics Theatre Arts Music Theatre Arts Students may take composite teaching majors in the following fields: (For program descriptions see the section—Composite Teaching Majors) Art Composite Communication and English Composite—Communication Emphasis Communication and Theatre Arts Composite — Communication Emphasis English and Communication Composite — English Emphasis English and Theatre Arts Composite —English Emphasis Mathematics and Physical Science Composite Music Composite Theatre Arts and Communication Composite—Theatre Arts Emphasis Theatre Arts and English Composite—Theatre Arts Emphasis. Students may take the Associate of Applied Science Degree from the Department of Art in either Graphic Design or Interior Design, both of which are two-year programs oriented toward job entry. The School of Arts and Humanities works closely with the School of Education in preparing students for teaching majors and minors and composite teaching majors. Students should consult departmental listings in the School of Arts and Humanities and in the School of Education for specific requirements for majors and minors. The curriculum of the School of Arts and Humanities is enriched by special lectures, exhibitions, dramatic and musical productions.
