Show Finance Program: Marketing Major —Bachelor Degree I. College Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). Economics SS274 (5) or 430 (4) is recommended to satisfy the state requirement. B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). II. School of Business and Economics Requirements: See School of Business and Economics section of the catalog. (Economics 301 is required in Upper Division Business Core.) III. Major Requirements (minimum of 36 credit hours): A. Courses required (20 credit hours): Economics 302 (4), Marketing 420 (4), 440 (4), 470 (4), 499 (4). B. Courses to elect from (16 credit hours): Marketing 320 (4), 340 (4), 345 (4), 350 (4), 360 (4), 480 (1-5); Economics 303 (4), and 311 (3); Management 350 (3) 488 with department approval (1-4). Program: Marketing Minor for Business and Non-business Majors I. Non-business majors (minimum of 28 credit hours): A. Required courses (16 credit hours): Marketing 301 (4), Accounting 201 (4), Economics 101 (5), 102 (3). B. Elective courses (12 credit hours): This program will be designed with a minor adviser and approved by the department chairperson prior to taking the courses. II. School of Business and Economics Majors: If a minor in Marketing is desired by a student majoring in the School of Business and Economics, the student must complete a minum of fifteen credit hours. The hours will be selected with the counsel of a minor adviser and approved by the department chairperson prior to taking the courses. FINANCE MAJOR Description — After studying in the School's core courses about the various functions in organizations, the Finance major learns how to acquire, allocate, and control a firm's financial resources efficiently. Education —A Finance graduate will be prepared to: 1) conduct detailed financial analyses; 2) relate the financial environment of an organization to the policies that organization will need for optimum returns; 3) select and analyze investment opportunities for both individuals and organizations. For those students desiring to pursue careers as analysts or consultants, a graduate degree is recommended. 206 Finance Ger, Professional Outlook —Since money is the life-blood of every organization, the need for sound financial management will persist and with it the demand for financial majors. A degree in Finance is common among the various business backgrounds of the highest paid executives in the United States. Related Careers —In addition to opportunities in financial departments of industrial firms, Finance majors find application for their skills in many other areas, such as banking, insurance, real estate, investment, and consumer credit.
