Enroll in General Honors and complete at least 15 hours of General Honors courses. B. Maintain an overall GPA of 3.3. C. Fulfill requirements for English departmental or teaching major. II. Specific Requirements: A. In fulfilling the requirements for English Departmental Honors the English major must take at least 15 credit hours on an Honors basis. This must include the senior seminar, English 499. B. The department strongly recommends the following be considered by the Honors candidate: Chaucer, Milton, and/or Shakespeare. C. A student may receive English Honors credit for any upper division English course including Directed Readings, English 483, for a maximum of 5 hours. D. Permission from the department chairman should be sought before registering in a course for Honors credit. A student who wishes to participate should indicate his desire to do so with the departmental Asian Studies representative who will help the student work out a proper combination of courses to fit his particular needs.
