Show VOCATIONAL AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION Paul G. Butterfield, Director Vocational and Technical Education includes those vocational programs of less than a baccalureate degree. The Office of Vocational and Technical Educaiton provides the following functions: 1. A link between the College and employers, agencies and citizens through a representative vocational advisory council. 2. Exploration of new program possiblities with the schools of the College to develop training programs for clients who wish to develop employable skills and attitudes which are compatable with job opportunities in business and industry in the local area and in the state. 3. A link between the staff of the State Board for Vocational Education and the State Board of Regents for statistical and fiscal reporting and program information. 4. Direction of vocational affairs for the College as staff to the Vice President for Academic Affairs. DIVISION OF CONTINUING EDUCATION Richard O. Ulibarri, Dean Richard F. Paskins, Program Coordinator, Police Science and Off-Campus Programs for Vocational, Child and Family Studies and Social Science Programs; Christor- pher C. Rivera, Program Coordinator, Off-Campus Hill Air Force Base and Dugway Programs; Elain Sandoval, Program Assistant Off- Campus Programs; Carole Price, Program Coordinator of Special Interest Programs for School of Humanities; Judy Trottier, Media and Travel Study Coordinator; Kathleen Heiner, Office Manager; Ruth V. Knight, Director of Community Services; Percy A. Morehouse, Executive Director, Mountain West Desegregation Assistance Centers for Race and Sex. The Division of Continuing Education is designed to extend into the community not only the services but the spirit of the College. It is the Division's responsiblity to become aware of the community's needs and prepare to offer assistance to meet those needs. Continuing Education assumes the responsibility for the non-traditional students in our society and creates programs, classes, and opportunities for them. The quality of service that has become traditional with Weber State will be maintained in any programs conducted by the Division. Continuing Education Courses —All courses listed in this catalog may be offered under the direction of the department concerned through the Division of Continuing Education. The Division, in addition, may offer educational experiences to meet a wide variety of needs which cannot be listed in the current catalog. These will be listed in the quarterly class schedule or advertised in brochures, through the media or by other means. The needs of the student will be considered in each instance. Credit — Credit toward degrees or certification will be offered by the departments as they direct in any regular course offering presented by Continuing Education. Credit will be offered toward degrees or certification in special workshops, seminars, conferences or mini-courses with the approval of the school or department to which they relate. Non-credit —Many courses will be offered for those students who are interested only in recreation or in professional and personal development and do not wish credit.
