Show Miscellaneous Services and Activities — obtaining and circulating resource materials on student learning and development in college, educational uses of computers, teaching methodology and evaluation of instruction, and current issues in higher education. — administering a Project Fund which provides resources to faculty whose instructional improvement project proposals are approved by a faculty committee. Office of Grants and Contracts —The Office of Grants and Contracts provides support to members of the faculty in locating sources of funds for sponsored projects, proposal processing and editing, proposal budget reviews, follow-up contracts with sponsoring agencies, and administrative help in managing project awards. Additionally, predoctoral and post-doctoral fellowship information and guidance is provided. Specifically, a library of "sources of funds" resources and periodicals is available for the use of faculty and staff in the Office of Grants and Contracts. Staff guidance is provided in the use of the resource materials, and assistance is available to make contacts with the potential sponsors for members of the faculty. Workshops are provided at frequent intervals for members of the faculty and staff on proposal writing. Proposal editing and proposal processing are important aspects of the office function. Periodic contacts are made both in person and by telephone with potential sponsors of the sponsored projects. The Office of Grants and Contracts maintains a current status of funding and project development information. Pamphlets and regulations of many potential sponsors are on file and available for Weber State College faculty and staff members. The Office provides cognizant administrative assistance to members of the faculty for project awards made to the College on their behalf. Project awards are activated by the Office of Grants and Contracts and provides liason assistance between the College and the awarding agency. College Relations —The Office of College Relations combines a variety of public relations functions including campus/community relations, information services, and fund raising from the private sector. Alumni Relations and Special Services—The Office of Alumni Relations provides a variety of programs and events designed to maintain contact with all former students of the college. Alumni records, travel tours and alumni giving are among the programs sponsored. Special events including receptions, open houses, and operation of the Visitors Center are also coordinated through this office. Cultural Affairs — The Office of Cultural Affairs provides outstanding programs of a cultural nature for the campus and community and assists with publicity and promotion of college productions. Development Office—The identification, cultivation and solicitation of prospective donors is coordinated through the Development Office to provide continuity, increased effectiveness, and to avoid duplication of effort and proliferation of appeals directed to the private sector. All private gifts including real property, gifts in kind, cash, securities, etc., are officially receipted and acknowledged and a record of all donors maintained by this office in accordance with established audit procedures. An annual giving program appealing to alumni, corporations, businesses, foundations and friends of the col- 418 Miscellaneous Services and Activities lege seeks to obtain private support for operational needs and capital campaigns. Additional funds are also sought through wills, trusts, bequests, life insurance and other forms of deferred giving for long-range needs of the institution. Publications — The Publications Department offers assistance in the production of brochures, promotional material and advertising for the campus community. Public Relations — The cultivation, production, and distribution of news and information is coordinated through the Office of Public Relations. Campus periodicals including the institutional newspaper "Comment" and the Faculty/Staff Bulletin are produced through this office. Arrangements for campus tours, visitors, special guests and events, and requests for speakers are coordinated through the Office of Public Relations. The News Bureau also functions under the Office of Public Relations and coordinates the production and dissemination of newsworthy campus events and activities to appropriate community, state, or national print and electronic news media.
