Show Page 2 Motivated by this thinking, the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce has consistently supported the Grand National Junior Livestock Exposition, and is seeking means of strengthening that support by enlisting the more active interest of its membership. The San Francisco Chamber has supported bills in the State Legislature appropriating funds necessary to the operation of not only the Junior Grand National but the Annual Grand National Livestock Exposition here at the Cow Palace. Each year, as have a number of our member firms and interested organizations, the Chamber has contributed $125.00 toward the purchase of a calf by one of the young winners of the San Francisco Junior Chamber's Livestock Merit Award Program. Our Agricultural Committee has inaugurated a "Salute to Farm Youth", held annually in conjunction with the Junior Grand National, at which we honor at a luncheon the leading members of the 4-H Clubs and Future Farmers of America Chapters of this State. These activities attest to the fact that the San Francisco Chamber recognizes the importance of the Grand National Junior Livestock Exposition to San Francisco. The show is important for a number of reasons. For example, it strengthens our City's relationship with our rural relations it points up the vital role of the livestock industry to our City's economy; and it provides an educational and character-building program that helps to mold the future leaders of our State. These factors are responsible, I know, for your being here today, and they will be responsible for the generosity of your bidding at the Fat Cattle Auction that will immediately follow this luncheon.
