Littlefield New Members Luncheon Bellevue Hotel Wednesday, April 25, 1956-12:15 P.M. * * * One of the most pleasant tasks that comes the way of a chamber of commerce president is that of extending a welcome to new members. It is a good feeling to know that the organization in which one serves is constantly gaining new strength through more firms participating. It is heartening to find added evidence that the programs which the chamber is pursuing have won your confidence and support. So I greet you now in behalf of the business community of San Francisco. Your Chamber is the particular organization operating day in and day out for the optimum development of the city and its commercial and professional firms. It is my hope that each of you will consider the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce as an actual, working department of your own business. That, in effect, is what we strive to be. Operating a successful, growing enterprise, is a full-time job today and requires the undivided attention of the managerial group. Yet so many programs are constantly developing on the local, state and national scenes that have a direct bearing upon your business and mine, that it is of the utmost importance to keep abreast of them and to play a role in making decisions affecting them. The department of your business that keeps abreast of these developments is your Chamber of Commerce.
