Show Remarks for Mora Luncheon Page 2 The aims of the Organization of American States are particularly significant to us today, in the light of recent developments. They are to strengthen the peace and security of the Americas, prevent disputes among them and settle disputes when they do arise, provide for joint action by all the Republics to repel aggression against any one of them, and promote the economic, social, and cultural development of the American Republics by cooperative action. Our guest today and the dedicated men who have served before him have worked effectively toward these goals...but in the years that lie ahead, we who believe in such ideals must do all we can to further them. This pleasant occasion today, therefore, has great significance for us all. The honored guests at the head table are staunch friends of the Organization of American States, and we are honored to have them with us. (see head table list) How it is my privilege to present a gentleman who is well known and respected in San Francisco, particularly in the circles of foreign trade and relations. This man for many years has worked enthusiastically with the San Francisco Chamber of Commerce in the promotion of healthy, two-way trade with nations of the world. A cosmopolitan banker who has lived and traveled extensively in Europe and South America, he is a Director and Past President of the Pan American Society, San Francisco Chapter; active in the Bankers Association for Foreign Trade; and a member of the Rational Foreign Trade Council.
