Show Oakland Ad Club June 7, 1955 -2- As a general contractor we do virtually all types of construction work. We are earth movers, tunnel drivers, dam builders, contract miners, and building contractors for hotels, commercial buildings, industrial and power plants, railroad, residences (if a sufficient number of homes is involved), and highways if the volume of work is large enough. WHERE DO WE WORK? We will work practically anywhere that our U. S. national policy favors and where the business climate is encouraging. In the last year we have sought work on every continent but Antarctica, and our coolness to Antarctica was not prompted by the climate but by the lack of business prospects. FOR WHOM DO WE WORK? For Governments and their various agencies, both domestic and foreign; for private industry; and for our own account. We are doing business with a wide variety of owners ranging from the Republic of Korea to the Navajo nation, and we must sell our services to presidents of corporations, to presidents of republics to engineers, generals, admirals, purchasing agents, commissioners of various types universities, and to the general public. WHERE ARE WE CURRENTLY DOING BUSINESS? Directly, in joint venture, or through affiliated companies Utah is doing business in many, many places. We are interested in the construction of military facilities in Guam where it's hot and in Alaska where it's not. Our group was recently awarded the Long Sault Dam and Barnhart Powerhouse, two of the major units in the St. Lawrence Seaway project. We are working for the Atomic Energy Commission in the United States, and helping to build mass military housing on Okinawa. |
