Show Tom Mellon Dinner Page 2 I came into office, indebted to the Harrises and without clean hands in that respect. The final straw came when we were unable to get the Red Room at the Bohemian Club as the site for this dinner. I called King to see if he could get us the Family Club. He knew he had me over a barrel, and he consented, but with conditions. He said: "As long as you are going to break with tradition, let's break with two traditions. First, we'll hold the dinner at The Family rather than Bohemian. Secondly, let's set up the Committee so that at least once in my life Fuller works for me." So it was done. The Committee was appointed King Harris, Chairman, assisted by Parmer Fuller III and Jim O'Brien, and we are indebted to them this evening. King, the meeting is yours. |
