Soroptomist Club Speech Page 5 Ladies, San Francisco is going ahead. We are moving forward on virtually every economic and social front. San Francisco today is a mighty metropolis whose forward tread reverberates in every corner of the globe. Let us not be coy or overly modest about this great city. There are too many who would overlook San Francisco's resounding accomplishments, her enviable position...too many who tend to get lost behind a single tree of liability...and thus fail to see the forest of assets. Modesty and pessimism have no place in today's high-gear progress toward tomorrow. Whether we are chamber of commerce presidents or office executives--salesmen or laborers--men or Women--let us not be embarrassed" to recognize San Franciso's tremendous blessings--to talk about them at every appropriate opportunity. I don't mean whistling out the sun or other artificialities. I mean taking cognizance of the facts--and being proud of them! San Francisco today is the focal point for domestic, national and inter-national business and travel that make our recently-created slogan, "Crossroads of the World" ring clear and true as an accurate description of a cosmopolitan city known and respected all over the globe
