Soroptomist Club Speech Page 14 convention, we are urging a resurgence of civic pride and are taking steps to clean up all areas of San Francisco to enhance our reputation as a clean and beautiful city. In a spirited competition between districts, our "Keep San Francisco Streets Clean" Committee is doing much to make all of San Francisco physically more attractive. I have indicated a very few of the factors of which we San Franciscans may justifiably be proud--factors that show we are not an idle city, we are not standing still, we are in fact, going ahead at an enviable speed. Hardly one of the projects ...which are signposts along our line of march to the city of the future...could possibly be construed to be attributable to the foresight, the work or the planning of any single individual or organization. In city planning and civic development, teamwork pays off as much as on the playing field. The Chamber has had its place because in all of these fields we have an abiding concern, and an interested group constantly studying, planning and working. But equally important has been the interest and support of so many other groups and individuals.
