Show Zellerbach Intro Speech Invest in American Week calls to our attention the benfits of our economic system and reminds us of our blessings. San Francisco welcomes Bakersfield, Fresno, Modesto, Napa, Pittsburg, and Roseville, all of which are now participating actively in this important program. Out speaker today is an outstanding example of the industrial statesman who has served with distinction his country, his community, and his company. He truly exemplifies the finest attributes of our American was of life - citizenship, economic leadership, and concern for his fellow man. Our speaker today is President and Director of the Crown Zellerbach Corporation as well as a Director of numerous other important financial and industrial concerns. He has occupied a position of leadership in many worthy civic and charitable activies - San Francisco Symphony, San Francisco Opera Association, Mt. Zion Hospital, United Bay Area Crusade, just to mention a few. He is Chairman of the Committee for Economic Development, Chairman of the National Man Power Commission, Trustee of the National Planning Association. He has served his country as alternate United States delegate to the 8th General Assembly of the United Nations and as Chief of the E.C.A. Special Commission to Itaty-from 1948 to 1950. He was awarded the Star of Italian Solidarity, 1st Class, as a reward for his two years of service in extending benefits of American capitalism to Italy.
