Page 2 Road, street and highway programs, traffic patterns, parking facilities, zoning and building codes are important to youyet you personally cannot possibly find the time to study these matters fully and to attend the meetings of governmental bodies where important matters are decided. The Chamber performs these tasks for you and acts in your behalf. The Chamber works for redevelopment as in the Produce Market and South Basin; helps to promote our marketing area with directories and statistical informationour foreign and domestic trade by trade trips and by publishing business opportunities and by taking all steps needed to make San Francisco an attractive city in which to do business. The Chamber watches pending legislation and proposed tax measures at all levels of government, a job which very few firms can do for themselves. We strive to attract industry and to promote tourism. We maintain liaison with the surrounding rural areas and have an unsurpassed relationship with agricultural interests which are so important to California's prosperity. I have named only a few of the fields in which this chamber seeks to serve your interests, but there are many more. We are most anxious for you to participate actively in our deliberations, to help make the decisions and to keep this Chamber strong and active. We are most receptive to new ideas, and there is no better source for new ideas than that provided by youour newest members. Please come in and get acquainted with our resources, meet our department managers, and make them aware of your special problems so that they may be helpful to you.
