Show Academic Advisement School Services, Financial Aids for the Summer Enrichment Program are allowed to carry a full academic load but are not permitted to register for courses which will be duplicated during their senior year. Applicants should rank academically in the upper fourth of their class. To be considered for admission to the Summer Enrichment Program applicants must: 1. Complete and return an application for admission. 2. Complete and return a summer enrichment application supplement. 3. Request a copy of their high school transcript. The transcript should be sent directly to the WSC Admissions Office by the high school. 4. Pay the $15 application fee. High school counselors can assist interested students and provide application materials. Concurrent Enrollment for High School Seniors —High school seniors who are nearing the completion of their graduation requirements may apply for permission to take one or two courses at Weber State while concurrently enrolled at their high school. The concurrent enrollment program is designed for exceptional students who are seeking additional challenges and academic enrichment. Students applying for concurrent enrollment must have a 3.85 grade point average in all high school subjects or a 3.5 in the subject area of the requested courses. Concurrent enrollment students are not accepted into degree programs and must be approved on a quarter-by- quarter basis for continued enrollment. After high school graduation they must complete the regular application procedures (with the exception of the $15 application fee) to become matriculated. The transcript should be sent directly to the WSC Admissions Office by the high school. 4. Pay the $15 application fee. ACADEMIC ADVISEMENT Advisement is available to all students. Students who have declared a major should contact the adviser within their major field.. Students who have not declared a major, or who are general education students, will be assigned to advisers in the Academic Advisement office. Advisers help students with questions about graduation requirements, and policies and procedures of the college. Assistance is also available for those students who wish to explore possible majors and establish a sense of academic direction. These students need to contact the Academic Advisement Office located in Building 1, Academic Advisement Center. (801) 626-6752. Guidance is available for all students as they plan their registration schedules and advance toward a program of their choice. 16 OFFICE OF SCHOOL SERVICES The office of School Services maintains liaison between Weber State College and prospective students. Representatives of the College make scheduled visits to all high schools and junior colleges within the state and to selected schools in neighboring states. The purpose of these visits is to inform students and educators of the educational programs available at the College and to provide them with information about application procedures and deadlines. Campus visits for interested student groups, student and counselor conferences, and the total student recruitment program are coordinated through the High School and Jr. College Services Office in Room 210 of the Miller Administration Building. Scholarships —The School Services Office is also responsible for the Weber State College Scholarship program. In accordance with state law, the college grants tuition waiver scholarships to students, (State Normal, Out-of State, Activity, Academic). The Scholarship deadline is March 1 for the following academic year. Community, business, professional and fraternal organizations also grant scholarships to Weber State students. These private or sponsor scholarships are open to qualified students. Stipends are for either partial or full educational expenses as determined by the individual scholarship grant. FINANCIAL AIDS The Financial Aids Program, consisting of grants, loans, scholarships, and opportunities to work, is established to assist students in receiving an education that otherwise might not be available to them. The belief that educational opportunities should be accessible to all students, regardless of race, religion, social or economic background, has been and will continue to be the motive behind the generosity and interest of those who make the Weber State College Financial Aid Programs possible. The general criteria for eligibility to participate in the grant, loan, or work program of Financial Aids is enumerated as follows: 1. Students must be: a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. National, a U.S. Permanent Resident, or a refugee with an 1-94 record. All permanent residents must have a valid ID card from the US Government. 2. Students must establish their financial need by means of the appropriate financial aids application which may be secured from the Office of Financial Aids, or High School Counselor. 3. Students are enrolled or have been accepted for enrollment at Weber State College. 4. Students must maintain both 'Good Standing' and 'Satisfactory Progress' while at Weber State College.
