Show Musi ic Music Program: Composite Music Education Teaching Major —Bachelor Degree I. General Requirements: A. Specific course requirements of the college (see index). B. Bachelor Degree General Education requirements (see index). Psychology 101 (5) in the Social Science area is recommended for Music Education Teaching majors. C. A minor is not required. D. Music Education Teaching majors must have a C or better in major courses. E. Music Education Teaching majors must achieve an overall 2.25 GPA. F. 197 total hours are required for this degree. G. Sixty of the 197 total hours must be upper division (courses numbered 300 and above). H. Students obtaining a Music Education Teaching major must satisfy the School of Education Certification program (see Teacher Education Program). These courses must include the following: Education 195 (1), 300 (3), 350 (3), 363 (3), 462 (3), 364 (4), 495 (15), 499 (5). I. All Music majors must complete performance level requirements before graduation. II. Specific Requirements (Select one of these emphases): A. Instrumental—Choral Emphasis 1. Minimum of 93 credit hours. 2. Music courses required: a. Music 110 (3), 111 (3), 112 (3), 113 (2), 114 (2), 115 (2), 216 (1), 219 (2), 250 (2), 251 (2), 252 (2), 253 (2), 260 (3), 261 (3), 262 (3), 263 (2), 264 (2). 265 (2), 301 (3), 302 (3), 303 (3), 308 (3), 314 (3), 315 (3), 316 (3), 320 (3), 425 (4), 426 (4). Note: Three of the four workshops (250,251,252,and 253) must be taken. b. 12 credit hours of private study and 12 credit hours of major ensemble, in consultation with an adviser. c. Electives: (1 course required) (1) Music 317 (3), 318 (3), 338 (3), 420 (3), Private lessons and ensembles. B. Instrumental Emphasis 1. Minimum of 93 credit hours. 2. Music courses required: a. Candidate for the forty-hour concentration must complete performance level requirements before graduation. (Requirement sheets available through Music Department office.) II. Specific Requirements: A. Forty-hour Emphasis 1. Music courses required (30 credit hours): Music 110 (3), 111 (3), 112 (3), 113 (2), 114 (2), 115 (2), 216 (1), 219 (2), 301 (3), 302 (3); 314 (3) or 315 (3), 320 (3). 2. Six credit hours of private study and four credit hours of major ensemble, in consultation with an adviser. B. Twenty-hour Emphasis 1. Music courses required (17 credit hours): Music 169 (3), 216 (1), 219 (2), 301 (3); 314 (3) or 315 (3); 320 (3), two credit hours of major ensemble in consultation with an adviser. 2.
